Candidates, at an early-career stage and of any nationality and gender, are invited to apply to this offer to develop competitive, independent research emphasizing cryo-EM projects or integrative structural biology projects. They should meet the criteria required for successful application to national and international funding such as the FRM<\/a>, ATIP-Avenir<\/a>, ANR<\/a> \u201cJeunes chercheurs \u2013 Jeunes chercheuses\u201d (JCJC), ERC Starting Grant<\/a> or Consolidator Grant<\/a>, A*Midex chairs of excellence<\/a> or any equivalent installation grant. Senior researchers already holding a permanent position are also welcome to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Architecture and Function of Biological Macromolecules (AFMB)<\/strong> laboratory<\/a>, supervised by the CNRS<\/a> and Aix-Marseille Univ<\/a> (AMU) and in partnership with INRAE<\/a> and Inserm<\/a>, is internationally recognized in the field of structural biology. This laboratory gathers an average number of 75 permanent and non-permanent staff members contributing to 5 research teams and to several administrative and technological facilities. It is located in the Luminy campus<\/a> in the south of Marseille, where it benefits from an exceptional scientific, technological and educational environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research themes at the AFMB laboratory range from glycobiology and glycogenomics to microbiology, virology and neurobiology. The common objective is the detailed description of the structure-function relationships of proteins, protein-ligand complexes and macromolecular assemblies using modern multidisciplinary approaches in bioinformatics, genetic engineering, biology\/biochemistry, biophysics, medicinal chemistry and structural biology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our research is based on a unique network bringing together efficient integrated technological facilities in bioinformatics, structural biology and screening of bioactive molecules. These facilities hold the GIS-IbiSA<\/a> and Aix-Marseille<\/a> labels and are partners of the national infrastructures FRISBI<\/a> and ChemBioFrance<\/a>, and they make up valuable learning and training means (e.g. EMBO Practical Courses 2011, 2015, 2022<\/a>). The structural biology facility will offer access to the last generation 200 kV cryo-EM equipment. The AFMB laboratory is also a member of the local IM2B<\/a> institute, which federates a network of 10 laboratories\/institutes aimed at strengthening interdisciplinary research and teaching in microbiology and its applications in bioenergy, environment and health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting package<\/strong>: The selected candidate will be provided with office and wet lab spaces for up to 5 people, contribution to bench expenses, and facilitated access to all on-site technological facilities. The early-stage researcher will be coached to apply to national and international funding calls and to a tenured position at the CNRS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The preselected candidates will be invited to orally present and defend their project in front of the executive committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
