Trypanosomatids are eukaryotic protozoans that include human parasitic pathogens like trypanosomes and Leishmania species. They exhibit unusual RNA processing pathways and concentrate RNA processing within specialized subnuclear condensates. The study of these pathways reveals principles of eukaryotic biology that go beyond traditional models. I will present my lab endeavors to generate a holistic understanding of the trypanosome RNA expression and processing across scales – from atomic resolution to cellular dynamics.
