Viral Replicases : Structure, Mechanism and Drug-Design

- François Ferron obtained his Ph.D. in 2005 in Biochemistry and Bioinformatics from the Université de la Méditerranée of Marseilles at the Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) (mentors: Dr. B. Canard and Dr. S. Longhi). He got post-doctoral training in structural biology, at Boston Biomedical Research Institute in Boston, U.S.A. and became a research fellow at University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine, Physiology Dept., Philadelphia, U.S.A. (mentor: Prof. R. Dominguez). In late 2008 he joined the CNRS team “Proteins from Emergent Viruses and Parasitology” in Marseilles, France (mentor: Dr. J. Lescar) to work on Phlebovirus viral genome packaging. Since 2010, he holds a CNRS researcher position in the team “Viral Replication: Structure, Mechanisms, and Drug Design” at the Architecture and Functions of Biological Macromolecules Laboratory – Aix-Marseille Université, Marseilles, France. His current interests are focused on the structural assembly of macromolecular complexes forming viral replication machineries.
