The ViMaC team at the AFMB lab, under the leadership of Juan Reguera, is excited to announce a Post-Doctoral position for individuals interested in contributing to our program focused on the structural and functional characterization of membrane-associated replication complexes in emerging RNA viruses.

Utilizing structural biology as a focal point, our goal is to establish a multidisciplinary research project that integrates our structural findings into the broader context of cellular and animal infection. We have a well-established network of collaborators, and we anticipate the biomedical potential of our research to span from the development of attenuated vaccines to the creation of new antiviral drugs aimed at combating emerging RNA viruses. This project is both ambitious and challenging, offering the potential for significant impact.

The ViMaC team is a dynamic and growing group with a diverse, multinational, and inclusive environment. We prioritize scientific career development and emphasize the quality of life within our laboratory. Situated at the AFMB lab, a lab with a substantial track record in studies on emerging viruses, we boast state-of-the-art structural biology facilities, including protein production and purification facilities, radioactivity facilities for biochemical experiments, X-ray facilities, and a cryo-EM facility equipped with a state-of-the-art 200 kV TEM, Falcon 4i direct electron detector, and Selectris X imaging filter. Our laboratory is located at the Luminy campus, adjacent to the national park of les calanques and the vibrant city of Marseille.

We are actively seeking candidates with a recent Ph.D. in biochemistry or structural biology, possessing a background in protein expression and purification. Ideally, candidates will have experience in cryoEM or X-ray crystallography. The position starts with a two-year contract funded by the EU project PANVIPREP.

Interested candidates are invited to submit their CV and motivation letter to juan.reguera@inserm.fr.

Thank you for considering this opportunity, and we look forward to welcoming a motivated and talented individual to our team.

Sincerely,

Juan Reguera PhD, HDR.
